OVERVIEW:

MAXQDA is computer-assisted qualitative data analysis software (CAQDAS) used by researchers to help gain insights from written or text documents such as submissions or open text questions in a survey. It can be used for coding and analyzing source materials, importing survey results for analysis, conducting mixed-methods analysis, and creating various data visualizations.

MAXQDA can be used to manage your entire research project. Easily import a wide range of data types such as texts, interviews, focus groups, PDFs, web pages, spreadsheets, articles, e-books, bibliographic data, videos, audio files, and even social media data. MAXQDA allows you to organize all your data in groups, link relevant quotes to each other and code your qualitative data.

LICENSE RESTRICTIONS:

Licensing: 20 concurrent users (potentially more in the future).

Licenses must be used on the campus network or while connected to the W&M VPN. Our VPN, Global Protect, can be downloaded from https://gp.wm.edu. The portal is gp.wm.edu. 

There is also a free course license that can be used in class.

Installation Instructions:
Install the software from the Download Software link, then follow the instructions below after finishing the installation on your computer. You will need to activate the software by connecting to the institution's network license page after successfully installing the software on your computer.

Here are the steps to follow after downloading and installing the software on your computer:

Start MAXQDA on your computer, and follow the steps below:

1. Read and accept the license agreement.
   1. Select “I accept the License Agreement”
   2. Continue
2. Read the Privacy Policy and Continue
3. Select “Connect to your institution’s network license”
4. Follow the steps below:
   1. Enter “apps1.campus.wm.edu” for Server address
   2. Enter “27001” for Port
   3. Highlight radio button: Please enter license name (case sensitive)
   4. Enter the following license name: MAXQDAx25
   5. Hit the Connect button

Check the validity of the license by pressing the Info button. Check the expiration date: After you finish the above steps you will be able to use MAXQDA.
